The controversy surrounding the suspension of Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has taken a fresh turn after Senator Ireti Kingibe disclosed that she never saw the committee report that formed the basis of the disciplinary action against her colleague.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Kingibe said she was attending a tax reform retreat when the report was considered and therefore did not have the opportunity to review it. According to her, although she attended an earlier committee session and signed the attendance register, she left before the report was finalized.

The FCT lawmaker further revealed that she had complained to fellow senators, including Enyinnaya Abaribe, about not having access to the report. She maintained that she neither reviewed nor endorsed the document that recommended Natasha’s six-month suspension.

Kingibe’s comments come amid growing debate over the process that led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension. Earlier this week, Senator Adams Oshiomhole raised concerns about the report, alleging that some signatures attached to the document may have been improperly included. He later clarified that no signature was forged, but the controversy has continued to generate public interest.

The latest disclosure has fueled calls for greater transparency in Senate disciplinary procedures, with critics arguing that lawmakers should have full access to reports before decisions of such magnitude are taken.

The suspension of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan remains one of the most controversial decisions of the 10th Senate. Kingibe’s revelation is likely to intensify scrutiny of the process and reignite debate over due process, legislative accountability, and the rights of elected representatives.

1960 Republic reports that Kingibe’s remarks have added a new dimension to the ongoing controversy, raising further questions about the report that led to Natasha’s suspension and the procedures followed by the Senate.
