The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the upload of polling unit results from the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election to its INEC Result Viewing (IReV) Portal, marking a crucial stage in the collation process.

The development comes as voting and vote counting conclude in many polling units across the state, with election officials moving to ensure transparency and public access to elections result in real time.

The IReV portal was introduced by INEC to enhance transparency and credibility in Nigeria’s electoral process by allowing citizens, political parties, observers, and other stakeholders to view uploaded polling unit results online.

Election officials have begun scanning and transmitting result sheets directly from polling units, enabling voters to monitor the process as results emerge across the state’s 16 local government areas.

The commission had earlier assured Nigerians that the technology would be deployed effectively to strengthen confidence in the electoral process and reduce disputes over results.

While uploads continue on the IReV platform, physical collation of results is also taking place at designated ward and local government collation centres.

INEC officials have emphasized that results displayed on the portal are for public viewing and transparency purposes, while official declarations will follow the legally prescribed collation procedures.

Political parties and election observers are closely monitoring both the digital uploads and physical collation process as the election enters a decisive phase.

The commencement of result uploads has attracted significant attention from voters, civil society groups, and election observers seeking to track the outcome of the highly contested governorship race.

Analysts say the speed and consistency of uploads could play a key role in boosting public confidence in the election and demonstrating the effectiveness of electoral technology.

Security agencies remain on alert across the state to ensure the collation process proceeds peacefully and without disruption.

The upload of results to the IReV portal represents an important transparency measure designed to improve accountability in Nigeria’s electoral system. As Ekiti voters await the final outcome of the governorship election, the process is expected to provide greater visibility into how votes are counted and recorded.

INEC has begun uploading polling unit results from the Ekiti governorship election to the IReV portal, allowing stakeholders to monitor the collation process as the race for the state’s top office enters its final stages.
