He was appointed Head of the WAEC National Office in Nigeria on October 2, 2023, a position he held until his elevation to Registrar and CEO on October 1, 2026.
The statement said his appointment was ratified by WAEC’s International Governing Board during its 74th annual meeting held in Accra in March 2026.

Among the reforms were the introduction of computer-based WASSCE, serialisation of examination question papers and a digital electronic marking system.
He also oversaw the development and implementation of the digital certificate portal, WAEC e-Study platform and digital records archive, as well as technology-driven systems for examination logistics, timetable management and monitoring examiners’ attendance.
Beyond his responsibilities at WAEC, Dangut has served on the governing boards of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
He has also represented WAEC at major education policy platforms, including the Joint Consultative Committee on Education and the National Council on Education.
Dangut is an academic and researcher with publications in national and international journals and has participated in various conferences and professional forums in Nigeria and abroad.
He previously served as the West African sub-region’s representative on the Executive Board of the Association for Educational Assessment in Africa.
