Funeral Preparations Begin for Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei

Reports emerging from Iranian media outlets suggest that Ali Khamenei, who allegedly led Iran for approximately 36 years, has died at the age of 86 following a series of military strikes reportedly linked to operations involving the United States and Israel. The reports, which are yet to be independently confirmed by multiple international authorities, indicate that the strikes occurred amid escalating geopolitical tensions that have drawn global attention.

Khamenei was originally from Mashhad, Iran’s second-largest city, and was known to have strong family connections to the revered Imam Reza Shrine, where his father is reportedly buried. Throughout his political and religious leadership, Khamenei held significant influence as Iran’s Supreme Leader, shaping the country’s foreign policy, military strategy, and ideological direction since 1989.

Iranian authorities have indicated that a large public farewell ceremony is expected to be organised in Tehran before official burial arrangements are publicly disclosed. However, government officials have not released detailed information regarding the exact burial date, citing ongoing security and diplomatic considerations.

Meanwhile, Iranian state-linked media sources reported that another structure associated with the country’s leadership hierarchy was targeted in suspected military operations. The building housing the 88-member political oversight body located in the holy city of Qom was allegedly struck on Tuesday. Reports also claimed that a separate headquarters facility in Tehran was previously targeted in what analysts believe may be part of broader strategic military actions.

No official confirmation has yet been provided regarding the burial timeline, and international observers continue to monitor developments closely as regional tensions remain high. Diplomats and global security analysts warn that leadership changes under conflict conditions could influence Iran’s internal political stability and its military response strategy.
