God Is Good Mobility (GIGM) has announced a 20 per cent discount on all trips booked by members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as part of efforts to reduce their transportation expenses amid the country’s economic challenges.
The Chief Executive Officer of GIGM, Dr Enahoro Okhae, announced the initiative on Tuesday during the official opening of the company’s 40th terminal in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
Okhae explained that the discount was introduced in recognition of the financial difficulties faced by young Nigerians serving under the NYSC scheme, many of whom have limited disposable income and depend on financial support from their families.
He said the initiative was inspired partly by his personal experience as a former corps member, noting that travelling during the service year could be financially demanding.
According to him, the company believes it has a responsibility to support young people navigating the current economic situation by making transportation more affordable.
The GIGM chief executive also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to improving customer experience through technology and service delivery. He said the newly opened terminal was designed to provide passengers with a comfortable environment while accessing the company’s services.
Okhae further highlighted some of the company’s expanding services, including its GIGM Ambassador programme, which allows individuals to sell travel tickets through the company’s mobile application and earn a 10 per cent commission on every ticket sold.
He also disclosed that GIGM was expanding beyond road transportation through new services, including HireX, which provides car-hire services, and Pass GIGM, which offers travel, holiday and tour-booking services.
He added that customers could now use the company’s application to book flight tickets, reflecting its expansion into other areas of mobility and travel services.
Speaking at the event, the Divisional Crime Officer in Gwagwalada, CSP Bilikisu Shuaib, commended the company for its security arrangements and handling of passengers’ luggage.
She encouraged customers to take advantage of the company’s online booking system, noting that passengers could conveniently reserve tickets and send goods through its logistics services.
Similarly, the Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Gwagwalada, Assistant Corps Commander Uche Amaku, praised GIGM for its commitment to road safety.
Amaku said the company had demonstrated a strong partnership with the FRSC, particularly through its separation of passenger transportation from logistics operations.
He also referenced the FRSC’s Ember Months safety campaign, which focuses on the dangers of overloading and mixing passengers with goods during transportation.
The FRSC official pledged continued collaboration with GIGM through staff training and other safety initiatives, describing the company’s expansion into Gwagwalada as a significant achievement.
The 20 per cent discount is expected to provide some financial relief to corps members travelling across the country during their service year.
