2027: Atiku Promises Affordable Living, Urges Nigerians To Collect PVCs

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has promised to reduce the cost of living and improve security in Nigeria if given the opportunity to lead the country, while urging eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the pledge in a post on his official X account on Wednesday, expressing concern over the economic hardship and security challenges facing Nigerians.

He said families across the country were struggling to meet basic needs, with parents finding it difficult to provide food for their children and pensioners facing tough choices between buying food and paying for medication.

The former vice president also highlighted the financial difficulties confronting young Nigerians, noting that the rising costs of transportation, rent and other essential expenses were leaving many workers with little money despite their earnings.

Atiku further expressed concern over persistent cases of kidnapping and attacks, saying many families continued to live in fear over the safety of their loved ones.

He argued that Nigerians should not have to contend with hunger and insecurity at the same time, warning that the country’s current challenges should not become the future inherited by younger generations.

Calling for greater participation in the electoral process, Atiku urged registered voters to collect and safeguard their PVCs, describing the cards as a means of expressing their choices and pursuing change through democratic participation.

He said the power to influence the country’s direction rested with voters and encouraged Nigerians to exercise their civic responsibility ahead of the next general election.

Atiku also criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the rising cost of living, blaming its policies for making life more expensive for ordinary Nigerians.

He pledged to make essential living costs more affordable and restore the level of security Nigerians deserve if elected president.

The ADC presidential candidate called on Nigerians across different generations to unite behind his vision of a country where families could live in safety, dignity and hope.

His appeal comes as political activities and preparations gradually build towards the 2027 general elections, with voter participation expected to remain a key issue in the months ahead.
