Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging members to work towards securing victory for the party at all levels.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Coronation Hall of the Government House in Kano, where Yusuf charged the council members to demonstrate commitment, integrity and effective coordination in carrying out their responsibilities.
The governor said the appointments were based on merit, competence and proven records of performance, expressing confidence in the ability of the team to deliver on its mandate.
He urged members to prioritise issue-based campaigns centred on the needs of the electorate rather than political rhetoric.
Yusuf also directed the council to communicate the party’s policy achievements, ongoing development projects and future plans to strengthen public confidence ahead of the elections.
He emphasised that a clear message and a compelling vision would be essential to winning the support of voters in 2027.
Responding on behalf of the council, its Director-General, Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, pledged the team’s commitment to achieving the party’s electoral objectives.
Gwarzo, a former deputy governor of Kano State and immediate past Minister of State for Housing, thanked Yusuf for the confidence placed in the council.
He said the team would deploy legitimate campaign strategies, grassroots mobilisation and effective coordination to secure victory for the APC in the presidential, governorship and legislative elections.
Under the new structure, Gwarzo will serve as Director-General, while Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Kano Government House, has been appointed council secretary.
The campaign council has also been divided into specialised sub-directorates responsible for strategic mobilisation, media engagement and field operations.
The inauguration marks part of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections as political parties begin organising their campaign structures ahead of the polls.
