The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended the residents of Kuje for their active participation in the recent area council elections, describing their civic engagement as a positive sign of democratic growth.

Speaking during a community engagement visit, Wike stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had directed that the contributions and political support of Kuje residents should be duly recognised.

The minister urged newly elected local leaders, including Shekwolo, to maintain strong connections with their constituents and ensure inclusive governance. He advised public office holders to regularly consult traditional rulers, women groups, and youth organisations to foster community-driven development.

Wike encouraged continued support for the federal administration, noting that while challenges still exist, progress is gradually being made under the government’s policy direction.

“I know that things might not be as we want, but by the grace of God things are moving. We have not gotten to El Dorado yet, but I know with your kind support, we will get there,” he said.

The minister emphasised that the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda remains focused on improving infrastructure, governance, and social welfare across the Federal Capital Territory.

Earlier, Shekwolo expressed appreciation to Wike and the people of Kuje for their confidence in his leadership. He promised to collaborate closely with the FCT administration to ensure the delivery of development projects for residents.

Highlighting key infrastructure priorities, Shekwolo appealed for support toward the completion of three major road construction projects aimed at improving transportation and economic activity within the area council.

Political observers say the engagement reflects ongoing efforts by the federal government to strengthen grassroots governance and accelerate infrastructure development in the FCT.
