Vice President Kashim Shettima has declared that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not be intimidated by insurgent attacks threatening Nigeria’s peace and stability.

Shettima gave the assurance following a fresh wave of violent attacks in Borno State, including the abduction of residents in Ngoshe and coordinated assaults on military formations in Konduga, Marte, Jakana, and Mainok.

The attacks, believed to have been carried out by insurgent groups operating in the North-East, have raised fresh concerns about the security situation in the region.

Government Deploys Reinforcements

In a statement issued on Saturday by his media aide Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President said the federal government remains firmly committed to protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.

He disclosed that additional tactical assets and intelligence-driven reinforcements are already being deployed to affected communities in order to strengthen ongoing security operations.

“The events of the past few days are a painful reminder of the shadow that persists, but let it be known: we choose light over shadow, and hope over despair,” Shettima said.

“Our difference as a nation is the distance between the ruin of anarchy and the promise of order.”

Tinubu Orders Security Mobilisation

According to Shettima, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been fully briefed on the situation and has directed an immediate mobilisation of Nigeria’s security forces to respond to the attacks.

“President Bola Tinubu has been briefed and has already directed a swift and total mobilisation of our security architecture,” he said.

“The Federal Government will not tolerate any sanctuary for those who seek to displace our people or occupy an inch of Nigerian soil.”

He also warned that those responsible for the violence would be brought to justice.

“We are not just fighting a war. We are defending the very soul of our humanity against those who preach a toxic rhetoric of hate, and we will not be cowed by their gory acts,” the Vice President added.

Sympathy for Victims and Fallen Soldiers

Shettima expressed deep sympathy for families affected by the attacks and paid tribute to soldiers who lost their lives while defending the country.

“Our hearts bleed for the families and the brave soldiers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty,” he said.

“This administration will not rest until abducted citizens safely reunite with their families.”

The Vice President also commended the resilience of the people and government of Borno State under Babagana Zulum, praising the courage of troops fighting insurgents on the frontlines.

“We remain one nation, tied to a common destiny. The sanctity of human life is non-negotiable,” Shettima stated.

“This madness will be brought to an end, not with empty words, but with the decisive and overwhelming force of the Nigerian state.”
