APC Targets Osun Victory, Says Governorship Poll Key to 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its determination to reclaim the Osun State governorship, describing the forthcoming election as a crucial test of the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Party leaders said victory in the off-cycle governorship poll would reinforce the APC’s position in the South-West and strengthen its preparations for the next nationwide elections.

Speaking on the significance of the election, APC chieftain Olatunbosun Oyintiloye said the governorship contest would measure the party’s grassroots support and organizational capacity.

According to him, the outcome of the poll will also reflect public perception of the Federal Government’s policies and development programmes under President Bola Tinubu.

The party maintained that ongoing reforms in infrastructure, agriculture, and the economy provide a strong basis for its campaign as it seeks to return to power in the state.

As part of its preparations for the election, the APC said it has stepped up efforts to reconcile aggrieved members and foster greater unity within the party.

The party has also intensified its grassroots engagement across Osun State, with Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, and APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, leading consultations with party members, traditional rulers, and community leaders.

According to party officials, committees have also been established to coordinate voter education, monitor electoral activities, and strengthen campaign operations across the state’s local government areas.

The APC believes that securing victory in Osun would not only return the party to power in the state but also provide political momentum ahead of the 2027 presidential and general elections.

Meanwhile, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, is expected to mount a strong defence of its mandate, setting the stage for a closely contested governorship election.
