Jamila Mani has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress primary election for the Mani/Bindawa Federal Constituency seat in Katsina State ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.

The primary election, conducted as part of the APC’s National Assembly primaries across the country, saw Jamila Mani secure a decisive victory over her closest challenger, Ahmed Saleh.

According to the official results released after the exercise, Mani polled 24,989 votes, while Saleh received 1,256 votes, giving the governor’s aide a commanding lead in the contest.

Her victory marks a significant political development within Katsina politics and adds to the growing conversation around female participation and youth representation in Nigeria’s political system.

Jamila Mani currently serves as Special Assistant on Girl Child Education and Development to the Katsina State governor and has been associated with advocacy focused on education, women’s empowerment, and grassroots community engagement.

Political analysts say her emergence could reflect increasing support for younger and female candidates within the APC, especially as more political parties face pressure to improve representation and inclusion ahead of the 2027 elections.

The APC primaries across Katsina State also highlighted broader internal party strategies, with several constituencies reportedly adopting consensus arrangements rather than highly contested voting exercises.

Party stakeholders say the consensus model was introduced to reduce internal conflict, strengthen unity, and avoid divisions capable of weakening the party before the general elections.

Across Nigeria, the APC continues to conduct primary elections for National Assembly positions as politicians, party leaders, and aspirants intensify lobbying and political negotiations ahead of the next election cycle.

Observers believe the ongoing primaries are becoming an early indicator of shifting political influence within the ruling party, particularly as governors, lawmakers, and emerging political figures position themselves for greater control ahead of 2027.

Jamila Mani’s victory is also expected to attract national attention among advocates calling for increased participation of women in Nigerian politics, where female representation in elective offices remains relatively low.

As preparations for the 2027 elections continue, the APC primaries are expected to play a major role in shaping future political alignments and determining the party’s strength across different regions of the country.
