The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will begin distributing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to eligible registered voters on Thursday as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, disclosed this during a strategic engagement with journalists in Abuja.
The distribution will cater to Nigerians who recently completed voter registration, transferred their polling locations or applied for replacement of lost or damaged PVCs.
The commission said the exercise is aimed at ensuring eligible voters have access to their voter cards and are able to participate fully in the 2027 elections.
Amupitan also said INEC is strengthening its technological systems to prevent stolen, lost or compromised voter cards from being exploited by unauthorised persons to undermine the electoral process.
The INEC chairman further urged political parties and their supporters to conduct their campaigns, rallies and other political activities peacefully.
He warned against actions that could disrupt the activities of rival parties as political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections intensify.
