Army Arrests Foreign Terror Suspect, Ghanaian Woman In Borno

Troops of Sector 4, Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested a Sudanese national suspected of terrorism-related activities and a Ghanaian woman believed to have entered Nigeria illegally during a security operation in Borno State.

The arrests were made by personnel of the 115 Task Force Battalion during an intelligence-led operation in Lassa, Dille General Area of Askira/Uba Local Government Area on July 19, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks operating across Nigeria’s North-East.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Acting Military Information Officer of Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Captain Mohammad Goni, identified the Sudanese suspect as Musa Fashir, a 32-year-old alleged foreign terrorist fighter.

According to the military, preliminary intelligence suggests that Fashir maintained links with terrorist elements operating in the region, raising concerns over continued attempts by foreign nationals to support insurgent activities within Nigeria.

The operation also led to the arrest of a Ghanaian woman who is being investigated for alleged illegal entry into the country.

Captain Goni said both suspects are currently in military custody, where they are undergoing profiling and interrogation to establish their identities, determine the nature of their activities, and investigate any possible connections to terrorist groups or transnational criminal networks.

He noted that the arrests underscore the growing effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations under Operation Hadin Kai, which continues to target insurgent movements and disrupt support networks across the North-East.

The military added that preventing the infiltration of foreign fighters remains a key objective in its campaign against terrorism, stressing that troops will continue to intensify operations aimed at protecting communities and denying insurgents freedom of movement.

Operation Hadin Kai has sustained offensive operations in recent months as security forces work to weaken terrorist cells and improve stability across the region.
