No Casualties as Enugu Air Aircraft Overshoots Runway at Benin Airport

All 68 passengers aboard an Enugu Air aircraft escaped unhurt on Thursday after the plane skidded off the runway while landing at the Benin Airport in Edo State.

The aircraft, bearing registration number 5N-ENR, was operating on the Enugu–Benin–Lagos route when the incident occurred.

According to airport sources, the aircraft overshot the runway after touchdown and came to a stop in a nearby grassy area.

Officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) responded swiftly, evacuating all passengers and crew from the aircraft without injury.

No fatalities or injuries were reported.

The cause of the runway excursion has not yet been officially confirmed. Aviation authorities are expected to commence an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
