The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has declared confidence in its ability to unseat Governor Ademola Adelekein the August 15, 2026 governorship election, insisting that the ruling administration has failed the people of the state.

Speaking during the inauguration of the APC campaign committees in Osogbo on Wednesday, the Director General of the party’s campaign council, Oluwole Oke, said the opposition party was fully prepared to reclaim power through its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

Oke claimed that before 10 p.m. on election day, Governor Adeleke would have been defeated at the polls, describing the APC as “experts in removing a sitting governor.”

According to him, the Adeleke administration has not utilised the state’s resources effectively despite increased allocations to the state in the last three and a half years.

“The government has failed the people of Osun State on all fronts. We don’t have adequate school buildings, teachers are lacking, public healthcare is struggling, and the agricultural sector has not improved,” Oke said.

He argued that the payment of workers’ salaries alone should not be celebrated as an achievement in governance, insisting that civil servants are entitled to their wages by law.

Oke charged members of the campaign committees to intensify efforts ahead of the election, expressing confidence that an Oyebamiji-led administration would focus on welfare, development, and poverty reduction across the state.

“Our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, will emerge victorious. We are ready for this election,” he added.

However, the Adeleke administration swiftly dismissed the APC’s claims, describing them as politically motivated and disconnected from realities on ground.

Reacting to the comments, the Deputy Spokesperson to the Osun governor, Oladele Bamiji, maintained that the current administration has recorded visible progress in education, healthcare, and other critical sectors.

He accused the APC of spreading false narratives to impress party supporters ahead of the election.

“Schools in Osun under the Adeleke administration are in good condition. Hospitals are functioning well, and people across the state are seeing the impact of governance,” Bamiji said.

He further predicted that Adeleke would secure another term in office with overwhelming support from voters.

Governor Adeleke is seeking re-election under the platform of the Accord Party, while Bola Oyebamiji is contesting under the APC.

Another notable contender in the race is former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam, who is contesting on the platform of the African Democratic Congress.

With political campaigns gradually intensifying across the state, the 2026 Osun governorship election is expected to shape up into one of the most closely watched political contests in the South-West.
