PVD Commends Mutfwang Over 41km Road Project Linking Plateau’s Three Senatorial Districts

The Plateau Vanguard for Democracy (PVD) has praised Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang for launching the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the 41-kilometre Bisichi–Fan–Mangu Halle Road, describing the project as a major step towards improving connectivity and economic activities across the state.

The group’s National Coordinator, Chris Ishaku, said in a statement on Wednesday that the road would benefit not only communities along the route but also residents across Plateau State by improving links between its three senatorial districts.

Mutfwang flagged off the project on October 7, 2026, at Fan District, where he explained that the road, initially awarded in December 2012 as a surface-dressed road with a laterite base, had been redesigned and upgraded to a full asphalt road.

Reacting to the development, Ishaku said the reconstruction would improve transportation for farmers, traders, commuters and rural communities that depend on the route for their daily activities.

He noted that reliable road infrastructure was essential for connecting agricultural producers to markets, improving access to schools and healthcare facilities, and expanding economic opportunities for residents.

The PVD coordinator also highlighted other road projects expected to improve transportation across the state, including the Foron–Bakin Kogi–Kadunu–Gindiri corridor.

He further welcomed the governor’s announcement that President Bola Tinubu had approved the Mararaban Jama’a–Mangu–Kanke–Langtang–Shendam–Ibi Road.

According to Ishaku, cooperation between the federal and state governments on infrastructure development could accelerate connectivity and support economic growth in communities across Plateau State.

However, he urged the contractors handling the Bisichi–Fan–Mangu Halle Road to comply with approved construction standards and project timelines.

He stressed that the government and contractors must ensure the road is durable and capable of serving residents for years, adding that the quality of work delivered should justify the public resources committed to the project.

The group also appealed to communities along the road corridor to cooperate with contractors and relevant government agencies to facilitate construction and minimise unnecessary delays.

PVD said the successful completion of the project would be important in strengthening transportation links, supporting local businesses and improving movement across Plateau State.
