Remi Tinubu Leads Governors’ Wives to Ogun for National Community Food Bank Launch

First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected in Ogun State on Tuesday for the zonal launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme, an initiative aimed at providing food assistance to vulnerable and indigent residents.

Governors from across the country, their wives and other dignitaries are expected to gather in Ogun State for the programme, which will take place at Makun, Sagamu. The event is part of efforts to strengthen social intervention programmes and provide support to households facing economic hardship.

Mrs Tinubu is expected to lead the distribution of food items to beneficiaries during the launch, while also taking part in other activities scheduled for her visit to the state.

According to a statement by Ogun State Governor’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, the First Lady will also commission the 108-unit Muhammadu Buhari Estate in Kobape, Abeokuta.

The visit will also feature the commissioning of the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence, a 250-bed hospital in Abeokuta designed to provide advanced healthcare services to residents of Ogun State and neighbouring communities.

As part of her programme, Mrs Tinubu is also scheduled to hold an engagement with major stakeholders at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta, the state capital.

The Ogun visit brings together activities focused on social welfare, housing and healthcare, reflecting areas of collaboration between the Federal Government and the Ogun State Government.

The National Community Food Bank Programme is expected to provide direct food support to vulnerable Nigerians while strengthening government efforts to cushion the impact of economic pressures on low-income households.

The zonal launch in Ogun is expected to attract government officials, representatives of various stakeholders and beneficiaries from the state.

The First Lady’s visit also comes as the Federal and state governments continue to implement social intervention measures targeted at improving access to essential support for vulnerable communities.

The Ogun programme will feature the distribution of food items, the commissioning of housing and healthcare facilities, and engagements with key stakeholders.

The state government said the visit is expected to strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government on social welfare, housing and healthcare, while supporting efforts to improve residents quality of life.
