Three Nigerian Students Win Four Gold Medals at International STEM Olympiad

Nigeria has recorded a major milestone on the global academic stage after three exceptional young students won a combined four gold medals at the 2026 International STEM Olympiad in Rome, Italy, outperforming competitors from more than 150 countries.

All three students previously distinguished themselves at the South-East Mathematics Olympiad, a regional competition that attracted more than 11,500 participants.

After emerging among the top performers, they were sponsored to represent Nigeria in Rome by education advocate and Educare founder Alex Onyia, who covered their registration, travel, accommodation and other competition expenses.
