Troops Rescue Two Kidnap Victims in Plateau

Nigerian troops have rescued two kidnap victims in separate operations in Plateau State, according to the spokesperson for the operation, Chinonso Oteh.

Oteh disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, saying the first rescue was carried out at about 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday following credible information about the abduction of Ndubuisi Onuigbo.

He said troops immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation, which led to the safe recovery of Onuigbo.

In a separate operation in the early hours of Wednesday, troops conducting a fighting patrol around Kukawa village in Kanam Local Government Area encountered suspected terrorists along their route.

According to Oteh, the troops pursued the fleeing suspects, forcing them to abandon a second hostage, identified as Mallam Sambo Abdullahi, who was subsequently rescued.

Both victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families.

The Commander of the operation, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for their professionalism and decisive response in disrupting criminal activities across the Joint Operations Area.

He urged residents to remain calm and vigilant while encouraging continued cooperation with the security forces.

Dangana said sustained support from communities would help the troops achieve their mandate of restoring enduring peace and strengthening security across the area.
