Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Price to ₦1,165/L, Diesel to ₦1,570/L

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced its ex-depot prices for petrol and diesel, lowering the gantry price of petrol (PMS) from ₦1,215 to ₦1,165 per litre and diesel (AGO) from ₦1,650 to ₦1,570 per litre.

The new pricing, which takes effect from August 6, 2026, reduces the ex-depot price of petrol by ₦50 per litre and diesel by ₦80 per litre, as competition in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market continues to intensify.

With the adjustment, Dangote Refinery’s petrol price is now below the prevailing rates at several private depots in Lagos. Market data from Petroleumprice.ng showed that Aiteo maintained its ex-depot price at ₦1,215 per litre on August 4 and 5, while Ardova, Lister and AA Rano all sold at around ₦1,216 per litre, making Dangote’s revised price at least ₦50 lower than those quoted by competing depots.

The price reduction also aligns with the refinery’s fuel distribution programme, which currently covers Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna, Abuja and Delta States, with plans to expand to additional states in subsequent phases.

Under the initiative, customers who purchase at least 250,000 litres of petrol qualify for free delivery, a move aimed at improving fuel distribution and reducing logistics costs for bulk buyers.

Industry analysts say the latest price adjustment could put further pressure on private depot operators to lower their rates, with motorists expected to benefit if marketers pass the reduced ex-depot costs on to consumers.
