BUA Cement has donated ₦12 million to the families of eight people who died in a road accident along the Kajiji–Tambuwal road in Sokoto State.
The company provided ₦1.5 million to each affected family as financial support following the fatal crash, which reportedly involved a commercial minibus carrying 13 passengers and a BUA Cement truck.
A management team from the company visited the bereaved families in Tambuwal to present the assistance. The delegation was accompanied by the District Head of Tambuwal, Alhaji Ahmad Dahiru, and the Chairman of Tambuwal Local Government Area, Hon. Abba Shehu Tambuwal.
The traditional ruler and the council chairman commended BUA Cement for the gesture, describing it as a demonstration of compassion towards families dealing with the loss of their loved ones.
They expressed appreciation to the company for providing financial assistance despite reports that its truck was not responsible for the accident.
The two leaders also encouraged other corporate organisations to extend support to communities and families affected by tragic incidents, noting that such interventions could help ease the burden on those facing difficult circumstances.
They acknowledged that the financial assistance could not compensate for the lives lost but said it would provide some relief as the affected families cope with their losses.
The leaders further prayed for Allah to reward the company for its generosity, grant eternal rest to the deceased and give their families the strength to endure the tragedy.
The donation comes as the affected households mourn their loved ones following the crash, highlighting the role of corporate support and cooperation between businesses, traditional institutions and local authorities in providing assistance to communities during difficult times.
