Delta Suspends Works Commissioner Over PTI Attack Investigation

The Delta State Government has suspended the Commissioner for Works following allegations linking him to the assault of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol, Simon Mudi, at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun.

The suspension is intended to allow security agencies to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident and establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.

The Secretary to the State Government, Kingsley Eze Emu, announced the decision in a statement, saying the government considered it necessary to allow the investigation to proceed without interference.

Mudi, popularly known as Temple, was reportedly attacked and injured during a political gathering at the PTI. Details surrounding the incident, including the circumstances that led to the altercation and the individuals involved, remain subject to investigation.

The state government said the suspension should not be taken as a determination of guilt, but as a measure to support a transparent investigation into the allegations.

It stressed that the relevant security authorities would be allowed to examine the incident and determine the facts.

The Delta Government also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, protecting residents and ensuring public safety across the state.

It said the protection of human life and the rule of law remained priorities, regardless of whether incidents involved government officials or state institutions.
