The Nigerian military says airstrikes conducted against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in the North-East have killed 103 terrorists and destroyed several logistics facilities within eight days.
The operations, carried out between October 10 and 18, 2026, were conducted under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) through coordinated missions involving Nigerian Army Aviation, the Nigerian Army Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (NARPAS) Regiment and the Air Component.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Military Information Officer at the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North-East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the campaign involved seven precision airstrikes targeting terrorist locations in Borno and Adamawa states.
The targeted locations included areas around Gudumbali in Guzamala Local Government Area (LGA), Badu in Monguno LGA, Mairari in Guzamala LGA and an area east of Badu in Borno State. Another strike was conducted at Duste Uku in Gombi LGA of Adamawa State.
The military also targeted an alternative residence reportedly used by Abu Saleem, identified as the ISWAP Wali of South Lake Chad, in the Arina Woje area of Monguno LGA on October 18.
Goni said the operation followed intelligence gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance activities that identified the location.
He added that subsequent human intelligence reports confirmed the deaths of Jindullah, described as a prominent ISWAP fighter and chief security guard to Abu Saleem, and Abul Kissa, a member of the group’s Shura Council, alongside other senior fighters.
According to the military, the strike destroyed the targeted structure and several logistics assets, including nine boat engines and motorcycles stored within the premises.
The statement said the operation also disrupted the group’s use of the forested location as a concealment point and potential safe haven.
In another operation on October 13, the military said its Guardian air asset tracked 16 terrorists moving from the Mairari axis towards a gathering of more than 100 fighters accompanied by several motorcycles.
The gathering was reportedly located about 23 kilometres east of Badu and 19 kilometres west of Monguno.
Goni said a subsequent precision airstrike on the gathering resulted in the assessed neutralisation of approximately 30 terrorists. However, the military said the extent of damage to the motorcycles could not be immediately established.
Other airstrikes targeted terrorist fighters and facilities around Gudumbali, Badu, Mairari and Duste Uku, contributing to the overall figure of 103 fighters reportedly killed during the eight-day campaign.
The military said the operations were designed to weaken the operational capacity of Boko Haram and ISWAP, disrupt their command structures and destroy logistics networks supporting their activities across the North-East.
Goni added that Operation HADIN KAI would maintain the momentum of the offensive through continued coordination among Nigerian Army Aviation, the NARPAS Regiment, the Air Component and ground troops.
He reaffirmed the military’s commitment to denying insurgents safe havens and supporting efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the region.
The latest operations form part of the military’s ongoing campaign against insurgent groups operating in the North-East, where security forces continue to target fighters, supply routes and facilities used to sustain their activities.
