NDLEA Arrests Two Persons Living With Disabilities in Separate Drug Trafficking Operations in Abia and Rivers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two persons living with disabilities in separate anti-narcotics operations conducted in Abia and Rivers states, as the agency intensifies its nationwide crackdown on illicit drug trafficking and distribution networks.

According to the NDLEA, the suspects were apprehended during intelligence-led operations targeting individuals allegedly involved in the movement and sale of illegal substances. The arrests form part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking syndicates operating across various parts of the country.

Officials disclosed that one of the suspects was arrested in Abia State after operatives reportedly recovered a quantity of suspected illicit drugs during a raid. In a separate operation in Rivers State, another suspect living with a disability was taken into custody following investigations linking him to alleged drug trafficking activities.

The agency stressed that while the suspects are persons living with disabilities, the law applies equally to all citizens, regardless of physical condition or social status. NDLEA officials emphasized that disability does not provide immunity from prosecution where criminal activities are established.

Preliminary investigations are said to be ongoing to determine the full extent of the suspects’ involvement and to identify possible accomplices connected to the illegal drug trade. Authorities believe the arrests may help uncover broader networks involved in the distribution of narcotics within the region.

The NDLEA has repeatedly warned that drug trafficking continues to pose serious threats to public health, security, and national development.
