Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has appeared on comedian and content creator Adebayo Ridwan, popularly known as Isbae U’s, popular YouTube show, Curiosity Made Me Ask.
The appearance has generated widespread reactions online, with viewers praising the host for securing the former president for the unconventional interview.
The episode began with Isbae U jokingly introducing Obasanjo as his former employee, claiming that he had paid his salary, provided his meals and covered his rent at Aso Rock between 1999 and 2007.
Obasanjo played along with the comedian’s approach, maintaining a relaxed tone throughout the conversation.
At one point, Isbae U tested the former president’s familiarity with contemporary Nigerian entertainment by asking if he knew personalities such as music executive Don Jazzy, dancer Poco Lee and content creator Carter Efe.
Obasanjo admitted that he did not know them. When the host pointed out that the entertainers were likely familiar with him, the former president responded with a humorous remark, suggesting that he associated more with “important people,” including Britain’s King Charles III.
The comedian also joked about Obasanjo taking a drink of water without seeking permission. The former president responded calmly, using humour to deflect the attempt to put him on the spot.
Clips from the interview quickly circulated across social media, attracting reactions from fans, celebrities and other online users.
Actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday, stylist Toyin Lawani and actor Jide Awobona were among those who reacted to the episode, with several praising Isbae U for bringing a former Nigerian president onto his show.
Nkechi Blessing jokingly warned the comedian that his style of questioning could land him in trouble, writing, “You go land for Kirikiri.”
Other viewers joked that the interview could result in Isbae U’s celebrity guests becoming targets of his trademark humour, while some called for him to invite more prominent political figures.
President Bola Tinubu was among the names mentioned by viewers who challenged the comedian to bring another political leader onto the show.
