Nigerian Grammy-winning singer Tems will join an impressive lineup of international stars performing at the grand opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, United States, on Thursday. 

The historic event, hosted by former U.S. President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama, marks the official unveiling of the 19.3-acre civic and cultural campus designed to inspire leadership, community engagement, and social change. 

Tems will share the stage with a star-studded lineup that includes John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Common, The Roots, Marc Anthony, and Bono alongside The Edge. 

The opening ceremony will be held at the Center’s John Lewis Plaza and streamed live globally through the Obama Foundation’s digital platforms, allowing millions of viewers to witness the landmark event. 

Tems’ inclusion in the prestigious lineup highlights her growing global influence and the continued rise of Nigerian music on the international stage. The Lagos-born artist has become one of Africa’s most celebrated exports, earning multiple Grammy Awards and collaborating with some of the world’s biggest music stars. 

The opening of the Obama Presidential Center is being described as one of the most significant cultural events in Chicago in recent years. For Nigeria, Tems’ participation represents another major milestone for Afrobeats and African music, reinforcing the continent’s growing presence on the global entertainment stage.
