Tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified as former U.S. President Donald Trump warned that military operations against Iran could be expanded, while Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian vowed that his country would never surrender despite ongoing air strikes.

The latest wave of bombardments, carried out jointly by U.S. and Israeli forces, reportedly caused a major fire at Tehran Mehrabad International Airport, where thick smoke was seen rising from damaged facilities following early morning raids.

Israeli authorities confirmed that some of the largest aerial attacks since the war began targeted strategic military installations, including a military academy, an underground command command centre, and a missile storage facility believed to be operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

On social media, Trump posted a warning message on his platform Truth Social, stating that Iran would be “hit very hard,” and suggesting that further military escalation was under serious consideration.

He added that areas and groups previously not considered for targeting could face destruction if what he described as “Iran’s bad behaviour” continued.

Iran Defies Surrender Demand

In a strongly worded televised address, President Pezeshkian rejected calls for unconditional surrender reportedly demanded by Trump.

“The enemies of Iran must take their wish for the unconditional surrender of the Iranian people to their graves,” he declared, reinforcing Tehran’s determination to continue resistance.

Despite sustained attacks on military infrastructure, Iranian forces demonstrated they still retain significant offensive capability.

Security alerts were reported across several regional cities, including Jerusalem, Dubai, Manama, and areas near Riyadh, where a ballistic missile was intercepted near a military air base hosting U.S. personnel.

Regional Missile and Drone Exchanges

The United Arab Emirates announced that its defence systems intercepted 15 ballistic missiles and 119 drones on Saturday.

However, authenticated video footage showed a projectile striking near Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest international airport under normal conditions. The explosion occurred close to parked aircraft and a train line passing nearby.

Gulf Nations Caught in Crossfire

Neighbouring Jordan accused Iranian forces of targeting critical infrastructure within its territory. Military spokesman Mustafa Hayari said more than 119 missiles and drones had been launched toward the country over the past week.

In response, Pezeshkian issued an unusual diplomatic message expressing regret that Gulf neighbours were being drawn into the conflict.

He stated that Gulf states hosting U.S. military bases would only be targeted if their territories were used to launch attacks against Iran.

Strategic Shipping Routes Targeted

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also confirmed that it fired at the oil tanker Prima in the Gulf while it attempted to cross the Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint that plays a critical role in global energy transportation.

Analysts warn that continued fighting could disrupt international trade, push global oil prices higher, and deepen humanitarian crises across multiple regions.
