US Vice President JD Vance Welcomes Baby Boy

US Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have welcomed their fourth child, a baby boy named Alec Neel Vance.

The vice president announced the birth on social media, revealing that Alec was born on Sunday morning at Walter Reed Medical Centre.

“Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother,” Vance wrote, thanking the military doctors and hospital staff for their care.

According to the Associated Press, Alec’s birth marks the first time in more than 150 years that a sitting US vice president has welcomed a baby while in office.

President Donald Trump congratulated the family, writing: “Congratulations! A perfect baby boy for the wonderful Vance family.”

Vance, who has been one of the Trump administration’s strongest advocates for encouraging higher birth rates in the United States, also reflected on the pregnancy in his recently published book. He wrote that his wife had initially been hesitant about having another child but changed her mind following the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk last year.

The couple’s newest arrival joins their three children: Ewan (9), Vivek (6), and Mirabel (4).

Usha Vance, born Usha Chilukuri, was raised in San Diego, California, by Indian immigrant parents from Andhra Pradesh. She met JD Vance while they were students at Yale Law School in 2010, where they participated in a discussion group focused on social issues in America.
