The Zamfara State Government has approved a 95 per cent salary increase for health workers across the state, with the revised pay structure taking effect from September 7, 2026.

The adjustment brings the state’s health-sector remuneration in line with salary structures approved by the Federal Government, including the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS).

The Head of Civil Service, Shehu Baraya, announced the review in a circular dated September 10, 2026, with reference number HS/Z/001/54/VOL.II.

The circular was addressed to senior government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries and heads of ministries, departments, agencies, boards and commissions.

According to the state government, the salary review is part of measures aimed at strengthening the healthcare workforce and improving the welfare and working conditions of health personnel.

The government said better remuneration is expected to improve staff morale, motivation, productivity and efficiency across the health sector.

It also urged health workers to respond to the improved pay with greater commitment and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Workers were directed to adhere to official working hours, maintain discipline and comply with applicable public service regulations, rules and ethical standards.

The circular stated that the government recognised the dedication and sacrifices of health workers and expected the salary review to encourage renewed commitment to providing effective healthcare services across the state.

Heads of ministries, departments and agencies were instructed to inform affected personnel of the new salary structure and ensure its proper implementation.

The revised structure includes new CONHESS basic salary scales covering various grades and steps, as well as updated hazard allowances for clinical and non-clinical health workers.

Under the new hazard allowance schedule, clinical health workers on salary grades 1 to 5 will receive ₦15,200, while non-clinical workers within the same grades will receive ₦14,250.

For grades 6 to 12, the hazard allowance is set at ₦30,400 for clinical health workers and ₦28,500 for non-clinical personnel.
