Bandits Kill 30 in Fresh Kaduna Attack, Burn Homes and Shops

At least 30 people have been killed following a fresh bandit attack on rural communities in Kaduna State, with several homes and shops also set ablaze during the assault.

The attack reportedly occurred late at night when armed men, believed to be bandits, stormed the affected communities, firing indiscriminately and forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers, who arrived on motorcycles, looted food items, livestock, and other valuables before setting houses and commercial buildings on fire.

Community leaders described the incident as one of the deadliest attacks recorded in the area in recent months, saying many families were displaced as entire sections of the communities were destroyed.

Emergency responders and local vigilantes later evacuated the injured to nearby hospitals, while search efforts continued for victims trapped in the aftermath of the attack.

The latest violence has heightened fears among residents of neighbouring communities, with many fleeing their homes over concerns of further attacks. Local leaders have appealed to the Federal Government and humanitarian agencies for emergency relief, including food, shelter, and medical assistance for displaced families.

Youth groups in the area also called for stronger security measures, urging authorities to establish a more sustained security presence around vulnerable communities and known bandit routes.

Security agencies have reportedly deployed personnel to the affected areas and launched efforts to track down the attackers. Authorities say investigations are ongoing, while residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

The attack underscores the persistent security challenges facing parts of northwestern Nigeria, where armed bandit groups continue to target rural communities through killings, kidnappings, and the destruction of property despite ongoing military operations.
