Hoodlums Raid Osun PVC Distribution Centre, Escape With Voter Cards

Suspected hoodlums on Sunday attacked a Permanent Voter Card (PVC) distribution centre in Okuku, the headquarters of Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State, making away with packs of voter cards after firing gunshots into the air.

The incident occurred at Oyinlola DC Primary School, Ward 2, where officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were issuing PVCs to registered voters.

Eyewitnesses said about 10 armed men stormed the centre, causing panic by firing sporadically into the air. The gunmen seized several packs of PVCs before fleeing the scene ahead of the arrival of security operatives.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the attackers invaded the distribution center and escaped with three packs of Permanent Voter Cards.

The police spokesperson said investigations have commenced to identify and arrest those responsible, while efforts are underway to recover the stolen voter cards.
