Nigeria’s private healthcare sector continues to expand as AXA Mansard Health Limited, through its healthcare subsidiary OneHealth by AXA, has launched dedicated Geriatric and Optometry clinics at its Victoria Island Medical Centre in Lagos.

The expansion reflects increasing investment in specialist healthcare services as Nigeria faces a growing burden of chronic diseases, age-related illnesses and preventable vision disorders.

“The addition of these clinics reflects the growing demand for specialised medical services that address the evolving health needs of people at different stages of life,” she said.

The newly established Geriatric Clinic is designed to provide comprehensive care for older adults.

The specialist clinic operates every Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

New Optometry Clinic Targets Early Detection of Eye Diseases

Speaking on the development, Jadesola Idowu said the Optometry Clinic was created to improve access to preventive eye care amid rising cases of undiagnosed vision problems.

She noted that many eye diseases progress silently and are often discovered only after significant vision loss has occurred.

The clinic provides:

• Comprehensive eye examinations
• Vision screening
• Prescription of corrective lenses
• Eye health assessments
• Early detection of common eye diseases
• Occupational vision assessments
• Preventive eye care counselling
• Referrals for advanced ophthalmic treatment

The Optometry Clinic operates Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
