Air Peace Alerts Passengers to Possible Flight Delays After Aircraft Damage

Nigeria’s leading carrier, Air Peace, has warned passengers to expect possible disruptions to its flight operations following a recent increase in aircraft damage caused by bird strikes across the country.

The airline said the incidents, which are beyond its influence, have affected some of its aircraft and could lead to delays, schedule adjustments, or temporary cancellations as safety inspections and maintenance become necessary.

In a statement, Air Peace emphasized that passenger safety remains its highest priority and assured customers that no aircraft would be returned to service until it had undergone the required engineering checks and received regulatory clearance.

Bird strikes occur when birds collide with an aircraft, most commonly during takeoff or landing. While many strikes cause little or no damage, some can significantly affect engines, windshields, or other critical aircraft components, forcing airlines to ground affected aircraft for repairs.

According to the airline, every aircraft involved in such an incident must undergo thorough inspections by certified engineers before it can resume operations, a process that may sometimes affect scheduled flights.
